Congressman Frelinghuysen is a leader in the fight to reform federal homeland security programs and better protect the citizens of New Jersey. His “Smarter Funding for All of America’s Security Act” would adopt the 9/11 Commission’s call for using threat assessments as the right way to distribute homeland security funding. This will ensure that New Jersey and other high-risk areas receive the support they require to guard against terror threats. Congressman Frelinghuysen is working to pass a bipartisan measure updating the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to ensure intelligence officials have the tools they need to thwart terrorism. Rodney is co-sponsoring a bipartisan bill that makes border security a reality and not just an overdue promise.

Rodney is listening to families, and regularly visits local businesses, and understands the very real anxiety Americans have about a volatile stock market, a weakened housing market, and higher gas prices. During these uncertain times, Frelinghuysen will continue to focus on making sure our families and local companies are able to keep more of their hard earned money to better provide for their families and to reinvest in their businesses. Recognized as a “Hero of the Taxpayer” for his work in delivering real tax relief to all families and individuals, Frelinghuysen helped eliminate the marriage penalty, extend the child tax credit, and increase tax reductions for businessmen and women. Now he is working to eliminate the alternative minimum tax (AMT) that hits the middle class and local small businesses hardest. There’s much work still to be done to address the high cost of living in New Jersey. Congressman Frelinghuysen has introduced a bill designed to increase transparency and accountability in the energy market. The measure will help lower gas prices by better preventing market manipulation, speculation and price distortion.

Frelinghuysen supported bipartisan legislation to help reduce gas prices by suspending the filling of the strategic petroleum reserve which is already 97% full. He believes we simply can not tax our way to energy independence. That’s why Rodney opposed the Democrats’ $18 billion tax increase on businessmen and women.

STRENGTHENING BORDER SECURITY

We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws! That’s why Rodney Frelinghuysen stood up to the White House and the Democrat leadership in Congress to defeat legislation that would have granted amnesty to 13 million illegal immigrants, many of whom are already receiving taxpayer-funded benefits. Frelinghuysen is determined to make border security a reality and not just another overdue promise. He is co-sponsoring a bi-partisan measure that deploys 8,000 new border patrol agents and puts a virtual fence and high tech surveillance along our Southern border.

CUTTING TAXES

Recognized as a “Hero of the Taxpayer”, Congressman Frelinghuysen helped eliminate the marriage tax penalty, extend the Child Tax Credit, and reduce income taxes for working families. But there is still much work to be done to address New Jersey’s high cost of living. Frelinghuysen is working to end the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) that hits the middle class and small businesses hardest. He has worked to build public opposition to Governor Corzine’s plans for higher tolls, higher taxes, and out-of-control government spending. And Frelinghuysen strongly opposed the Democrats’ $683 billion federal tax increase, the largest in U.S. history.
