Congressman Frelinghuysen
remains focused on improving our local quality of life and taking on the tough issues in Washington.
As the state's senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, he holds the federal bureaucracy accountable to New Jersey's needs and priorities. Frelinghuysen demanded clean-up of federal superfund sites and resources to preserve open space and safeguard our drinking water. His hallmark legislative initiatives, the "Highlands Conservation Act‚" and the "Crossroads of the Revolution‚", were passed with support from both Republicans and Democrats.
Each week, Congressman Frelinghuysen can be found in one of our local classrooms and he often brings with him one of our nation's top science leaders, such as the Director of the National Science Foundation, the NASA Administrator, actual astronauts and many others, to inspire our children in their science studies.

OUR CONGRESSMAN
Rodney Frelinghuysen began his service with the United States Army in basic training at Fort Dix in 1969. He would go on to serve in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam in the 93rd Engineering Battalion (Const.). Throughout his career, Frelinghuysen has been one of our country's most respected voices on foreign and military affairs. He has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to meet with our troops on the ground as well as key American and foreign leaders. Rodney honors our legions of brave, all- olunteer servicemen and women for their efforts on both military and humanitarian fronts. At a time when our country is facing increasingly dangerous threats across the globe, Frelinghuysen's experience and common sense leadership is needed now more than ever.
Upon returning home from Vietnam, like others in his family before him, Rodney chose to devote his life's work to serving the people of New Jersey. He began as a Morris County Freeholder and would go on to serve in the State General Assembly before being elected to Congress by the people of Morris, Somerset, Essex, Passaic and Sussex Counties. Frelinghuysen quickly built a reputation for outstanding service to his constituents. Through countless town hall meetings and visits in each of our communities, Rodney actively seeks out and listens to the opinions and advice of his constituents.
